This is a lovely story, please read on!
Nadia has been studying cello with Exeter Young Strings since the age of four (as you can see from the lovely pictures). Mum first took Nadia to introductory music sessions at Exeter Young Strings when she was a three year old and she quickly showed an enthusiasm for the warm tones of the cello. Since then she has played at countless events both solo and in small groups winning first place at Devon Performing Arts Festival.
She has recently passed her ABRSM grade 5 Cello (with Merit) and Grade 2 Theory (with Merit). Apart from being a very serious minded student, Nadia is probably best known for the very active part she plays in school life both in and out of the classroom. She currently works as a Maths Mentor to help other students in their studies and is an Anti-bullying Ambassador and a Mental Health Ambassador. Whilst setting high standards for herself she frequently goes well beyond the call of duty in helping those around her.
We were asked if we could give Nadia a Grant to allow her to purchase a better bow for her instrument, one that was suitable to her musical talent. We were delighted to help such a wonderful and deserving person!
