This charming school in East Sussex asked for our help in getting some electronic drums to help them get more people in their music programme. Read on to hear what happened next (the drums are just a part of the plan!)…

“This term we piloted the mentoring programme and recruited our first mentor. Here is Raymund, our mentor performing in our summer concert. He has worked with a year seven group and mentored them and coached them in weekly band practice sessions. Here is a photograph of them performing in our summer concert. Now that we have piloted the project we are looking forward to rolling it out to more groups from September. We are recruiting five sixth form students to train as mentors to work with year seven bands. At the beginning of next term we will have a meeting where we will invite musicians and singers from year seven and organise them into bands. We will timetable their band rehearsals during break times so that each group has a weekly slot with their mentor. The purchase of the drum kit will mean that we can have more bands rehearsing at any one time and that they we will be able to encourage more drum kit players and rock style bands. We will keep you updated as the project progresses”.
