This wonderful Care in the Community Group work with older people and adults with learning difficulties to make a positive impact on their wellbeing through music. We were delighted to be able to give them a grant and have just heard this from them:
“Music for Wellbeing has been able to expand and diversify its work through Music for All’s donation of 30 ukuleles.
Since receiving them, they have been used in a regular movement and music group for people living with dementia (Moving Music: Tisbury), and have also formed the basis of an intergenerational ukulele project (Uke Can Do It! Old Sarum Ukulele Band), bringing together residents of a care home and families from a local school.
The intergenerational project will also form part of Co-Director Liv McLennan’s PhD research, and the donation of ukuleles has enabled this to happen.
The ukuleles will also be used in September in an after-school ukulele club at a Wiltshire school and will continue to form part of the offer of Music for Wellbeing CIC.
The ukuleles have enabled the music leaders to create specific resources for teaching and leading ukulele sessions with mixed ability (and intergenerational) groups and pass ideas on to other music teachers so they can carry on the work with their own groups. Thank you so much for your support”.
