“I was very fortunate enough to grow up in a musical family, playing instruments on a daily basis and having inspiring musicians around me. From a young age I always wanted to be like my Father, who is a lead
singer in a famous Indian Bhangra pop band but this wasn’t easy. Bhangra is a very male dominated genre and female dhol drummers are very rare around the world. However with hardwork, support and
determination I overcome various obstacles and became the First Female Dhol Drummer in the UK.
Music for all is another platform to support good music for future generations and I am delighted to be a part of it. I specifically want to help inspire and encourage female musicians. To give them confidence that female musicians can break through and be successful and that
together we can bring the joy of music to much wider audiences.”
